Despite the weather trying it's best to spoil the occasion it was Cup Final day for two fo AFC Pogmoor's youngest teams.
Already use to high pressure games and Cup Finals both teams went into their respected ties in confident mood.
For the U9's it was a trip to Rotherham Town. With this the first meeting between the two sides it was anyones guess how the game would go but in the end it was very much a one sided sided affair as a strong Poggy side took control of the game and came away with the silverware thanks to an 8-0 win.
For our U10's it was a home tie against a Brunsmeer side who the lads knew all too well after the two teams met in the same final only 12 months previously. As with then this fixture was another classical tight affair. After normal time the teams couldn't be split drawing 3-3 and so sudden death penalties were needed. Keeping their nerve it was Poggy who managed to slot the ball home and come out eventual winners 5-4.
Firstly congratulations to both of our Poggy teams, for their performances both today and in the games leading up to the finals, you've done the club proud. And secondly a big thank from the Club to the managers, supporters and parents of all four teams who've turned out today in what has been awful weather to give these lads the chance to play and enjoy a game of football.
