Our second outing of the season put us up, yet again, against team who in the previous year played a division above the reds. Trying to recreate the result from the week before, poggy started strong by having a flurry of attacks on the Charnock goal.
Finally after a couple of missed opportunities the fall fell kindly to Gracie King's feet who man to swivel brilliantly and managed to slot the ball beautifully into the far right corner. Charnock bounced back brilliantly from this goal by having a number of attacks themselves. After a string of commanding saves from poggy's number one holly, the score at half was one nil in our favour.
After half time a lot of the play was battled out in the midfield with either team struggling to make a clear cut chance. Finally a chance fell to right foot of Lexie after a brilliant ball by floss. However the away sides goalkeeper made herself big to make a strong save with her right hand. Unlucky. After another quiet period leading into a nerve racking last five minutes an awkward bounced fooled the poggy defenders as the ball fell perfectly to the Charnock's striker's feet who slotted the ball perfectly into the bottom right corner of the poggy goal. 1-1. Shortly after the final whistle blew.
Overall a result for the reds that if managed better could've gone their way. The players knew what went wrong and learnt from the result and take the experience into the next game. For fifty minutes poggy had control of the game and one chance was all it took to equal the scoreline. A tough game against a tough Charnock side. Onto next week!
